About Rogue Valley Sewer Services (RVSS)
Rogue Valley Sewer Services is a Sanitary Authority formed in 1966 under the provisions of ORS 405.705 to 405.980.
RVSS is partners with the City of Medford in a regional sewer system. Under the terms of the agreement, the City of Medford operates the regional treatment plant and most of the collection system within the City of Medford.
RVSS operates the collection systems for the cities of Talent, Phoenix, a portion of Medford, Central Point, Eagle Point, Jacksonville, and unincorporated areas of Jackson County.
RVSS operates both the collection and treatment systems for the cities of Shady Cove and Gold Hill
RVSS administers stormwater quality compliance for Jackson County, White City, and the cities of Phoenix, Talent, and Eagle Point.
RVSS has a staff of 39 and an operating budget of approximately $14 million. Capital expenses vary from year to year but are typically around $3 million.
Current Challenges: The main issue currently facing RVSS is the regional connection to the City of Gold Hill. Gold Hill was annexed into RVSS in 2023, and we are currently in the design phase of an 8-mile pipeline that would eliminate Gold Hill’s treatment plant and connect it to the regional treatment plant.
The project design is 90% complete. Funding for the design has been secured, and we are currently in the process of finalising funding for the construction phase through the DEQ State Revolving Loan Fund and the USDA Rural Development Fund.
The new manager would be responsible for finalising these funding sources and completing the project.
Job Summary: The General Manager answers to an elected 5-member Board of Directors and is responsible for implementing policies established by the Board and overseeing all aspects of RVSS’s operations.
Compensation: RVSS offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, which includes the following:
- Salary: $15,000 – $19,000 depending on qualifications
- Full family health, dental, and eye insurance coverage
- $3,600 per year RVSS contribution to an employee health reimbursement account
- 16hrs/month of paid time off.
